Keynote Speaker: Dr. Benjamin Baran
Assistant Professor and Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Navy Reserve

March 13, 2015

Northern Kentucky University
Student Union Ballroom

5:30 pm - 9 pm

Most of what’s been reported about the war in Afghanistan has focused on the bullets, the bloodshed, or the strategic blunders. But when you take an organizational behavior professor, put him in uniform, and drop him in the middle of NATO Training Mission—Afghanistan for a full year, a unique perspective emerges. In this talk, Dr. Ben Baran will discuss how failures to lead—failures to build bridges—fragmented the international effort to help Afghanistan, resulting in a massive waste of human talent and suboptimal solutions for the Afghan people. You’ll be entertained by this inside look at managing America’s longest war, and you’ll pick up valuable lessons that readily apply to any organization operating in a complex world.
