Louis J. Manchise, Mediator

Louis J. Manchise has been a mediator in the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky area for the past 33 years. Most recently before joining the faculty at NKU, he served as Director of Mediation Services, Federal Mediation Service (FMCS) in Cincinnati. He is very well known in the conflict management community as a dedicated, hard working, fair and creative problem solver. Throughout his 33 year career he has mediated a wide spectrum of dispute mediation cases. The nature of the cases he has been involved in are: employee/employer matters, commercial disputes, court cases, grievances, EEO complaints, peer conflict, labor-management negotiations, inter and intra governmental conflict-federal, state county and cities, regulatory negotiations and the facilitation of business meetings. As a member of the Federal Mediation Service he was an outside mediator for the United States Postal Service, The Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor as well as numerous organizations in both the private and public sectors.

Manchise’s work includes resolving disputes in industry, manufacturing, school systems, cities, state/federal governments, service organizations and non-profit institutions.

In 2006 Manchise received the prestigious National Abner Award for his contributions to the field conflict resolution. He was recognized for his promotion, teaching, writing and implementation of interest based techniques to the field of negotiations and problem solving. There have been only 19 recipients of the National Abner Award since its inception in 1976.
